PAK vs SA: Watch – Shadab Khan Walks Off The Field After Suffering Freak Injury

Pakistan suffered a huge injury blow right at the start of their bowling innings in the ongoing game against South Africa at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Their vice-captain and leg-spinner Shadab Khan had to walk off the field in the very first over of the innings.

On the second ball of the first over, Iftikhar Ahmed bowled a flighted delivery and Temba Bavuma timed it towards mid-on before taking off for a single. In the meantime, Shadab Khan came charging in, collected the ball, and made a sharp throw.

But in the process, he ended up hurting himself. While throwing the ball, he lost his balance and fell awkwardly on his shoulder. He received medical attention immediately before deciding to walk off the field. The stretcher was out immediately but the allrounder managed to stand up and walk off the field unaided.

Pakistan would be desperately hoping that their spin spearhead has not suffered any serious injury and returns to the field soon. With only 271 runs to defend, the Men in Green will need the services of their leg-spinner against the high-flying Proteas.

Earlier in the game, Pakistan made a shaky start with the bat before recovering well but failed to finish strongly. In the end, they were bowled out for 270 runs in the 47th over after captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Both of their openers – Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq – failed to get going. The likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed got the starts but failed to convert. Babar and Saud Shakeel scored fifties while Shadab Khan played a crucial 43-run knock.

At 225 for 5 in the 40th over with Saud and Shadab Khan well set, Pakistan were looking set to reach the 300-run mark. However, they suffered an inexplicable collapse and were all out for 270 runs. At the time of writing this report, South Africa were on 34 for 1 in the 4th over.
