Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill roll their arms in the nets as the team prepares for the match against England. With Hardik Pandya’s return to the playing XI uncertain, India’s specialist batters bowled during the training session.

The Rohit Sharma-led team began their World Cup 2023 campaign with five consecutive wins, making them the only undefeated side. The Men in Blue will face the Jos Buttler-led side in their next match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29.

In a video shared on the Indian Cricket Team’s Instagram, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was spotted bowling left-handed. Additionally, players such as Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja practiced their right-arm bowling during the team’s first training session in Lucknow.

Virat Kohli bowled three deliveries for India in the match against Bangladesh when Hardik Pandya got injured. Kohli was seen practicing his part-time seam bowling. Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav also tried their hands at bowling to potentially serve as the sixth bowler.

Suryakumar is expected to take on the role of the sixth bowler in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who is reportedly ruled out of the next two games. It’s worth noting that Yadav had previously been reported for an illegal bowling action in the 2014 Champions League.

BCCI Yet To Provide Update On Hardik Pandya’s Injury Status

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the match against New Zealand in Dharamsala. However, the board hasn’t provided any injury update regarding his participation in the upcoming matches in the World Cup.

“Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune,” in a media release, the BCCI had stated.

“The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team. He will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on 20th October and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England.”
