Bangladesh Playing 11 vs India – ICC World Cup 2023, Match 17. Bangladesh takes on India in match 17 of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Pune on October 19. The match starts at 2 pm IST and is the first of five matches to be played in Pune.

Bangladesh are heading into this match after consecutive losses against England and New Zealand after their first win over Afghanistan in the tournament. They will look to avoid a third consecutive defeat in this World Cup as they gear up to face India. Bangladesh recently defeated India in the Asia Cup and will take confidence from that win into their next match.

Shakib Al Hasan has picked up a quadricep injury and is doubtful for the match against India. It will be interesting to see who leads the team in his absence. Litton Das leads the race in case Shakib misses out.

India and Bangladesh have played five matches in 50-over World Cups. They have lost four and won one match. Having lost their last two games, the Tigers will be down on confidence. They are facing a third defeat on the trot which would make their last four qualification chances very tough.

Shanto should open the batting for Bangladesh in the absence of Tamim Iqbal. He has been the most in-form batter for the Tigers since the Asia Cup. Dropping him in the middle-order has not worked for Bangladesh so far.

Litton Das

Litton Das should open the batting with Najmul. With Shakib and Mushfiqur, he is one of Bangladesh’s batting pillars. He scored out for a first-ball duck in the last match against New Zealand. Of late he has not been in good form.

Shakib Al Hasan (C)

Shakib Al Hasan will bat at three. The skipper suffered a quadricep injury in the match against New Zealand. He is not yet ruled out of the game against India but his chances of playing the game look very slim. He has picked up five wickets from three matches.

Mushfiqur Rahim (WK)

Mushfiqur Rahim should bat at four. He scored 51 off 64 balls batting in the middle-order. against England. Against New Zealand, he scored 66 Rahim and Shakib are playing their fifth World Cup respectively.

Towhid Hridoy

Hridoy can bat at five. He played a few impactful knocks in the Asia Cup. He is one of the upcoming batting potentials for Bangladesh who came from U-19 cricket. He scored 13 off 25 balls against New Zealand.

Mahmudullah Riyad

Mahmudullah was drafted into the Bangladesh World Cup squad. He was a late addition due to his experience. He is being seen as a finisher in this Bangladesh batting lineup. He scored an unbeaten 41 off 49 balls batting at number eight for his team against the Kiwis.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Miraz can bat at seven. He batted at number four and scored 30 off 6 balls against the Kiwis. He is being seen as a potential captain after Shakib retires and has batted up and down the order.

Taskin Ahmed

Taskin can bat at eight and lead the bowling attack for the Tigers. He has picked up 92 wickets in 656ODI games for his national side. He took 1 for 38 against England. He is inching closer to 100 ODI wickets. Against the Kiwis, he remained wicketless.

Mustafizur Rahman

The Fizz will lead the bowling attack for Bangladesh. He was expensive against England going for 70 off his 10 overs. He took 1 for 36 against New Zealand. He took 20 wickets in the last World Cup. So far he is not amongst the top 10 bowlers.

Shoriful Islam / Hasan Mahmud

Shoriful can be the third seamer in the XI. He has good change-ups and slower deliveries which can be handy on the Chennai track. He picked up 3 for 75 against England. He remained wicketless but bowled a brilliant opening spell against New Zealand. The other option is the youngster Hasan Mahmud who is yet to play a game in the tournament.

Nasum Ahmed

Nasum Ahmed, the left-arm spinner can be added to the Bangladesh XI to bolster their spin attack. He can come in for opener Tanzid Hasan. His left-arm spin will be useful on the Pune track.
