CWC 2023: Twitter goes wild as South Africa hand Australia their biggest defeat in ODI World Cup history

South Africa achieved a remarkable victory, defeating Australia by a substantial margin of 134 runs in Match 10 of the ODI World Cup 2023, held at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday, October 12.

Under the leadership of Temba Bavuma, the South African team showcased a comprehensive performance, maintaining their winning streak after their earlier triumph against Sri Lanka in the tournament opener, clearly indicating their strong aspiration to secure their first-ever World Cup title.

Quinton de Kock was the star of the South African innings, exhibiting an exceptional display of power-hitting as he scored a brilliant 109 runs off 106 balls. His innings featured 8 fours and 5 sixes, setting the stage for a formidable total. Aiden Markram also made a significant contribution, notching up 56 runs off 44 balls, including 7 fours and 1 six.

Australia’s bowling attack, led by Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell, was persistent in their efforts. While they managed to pick up crucial wickets, South Africa still succeeded in posting a competitive total.
